Event - Class Police Visits

April to June 2015

As part of our Community links during the summer term, PC Alan Hendy and his colleagues arranged to visit all classes to raise awareness of the role of Police Officers as well as to give the children messages about ‘Keeping Safe’.

Visits included:

  • Reception Class and Year 1 - Road Safety
  • Year 2 - Anti- Bullying/Be Kind to Each Other
  • Year 3 - Stranger Danger
  • Years 4 and 5 - Cyber Bullying
  • Year 6 - Moving On/Transition to Secondary School

On Wednesday 22nd April the Community Officers spoke to the children about the role of a Police Officer and showed them the various parts of their uniform and their use. They then helped the children to consider ‘Stranger Danger’ and what to do if they were to be approached by a stranger.

On Tuesday 28th April the officers visited Reception Class again and helped the children to consider safe places to cross and the safest way to cross the road. The children were then all allowed the opportunity to practise this, using the role play crossing point.

On Wednesday 17th June 2015 PC Hendy talked to Year 3 about Stranger Danger. He was very impressed with their knowledge. Year 3 were able to tell PC Hendry about lots of true life situations when they had to follow the rules of ‘Stranger Danger’ to keep themselves safe. After the main talk Year 3 were delighted to learn more about the equipment every police officer carries.
