Clubs

We run a variety of clubs to extend the learning of our pupils at Our Lady of Fatima Primary School. These are delivered by a combination of our teachers and fully qualified coaching staff.

Each term children are given the opportunity to extend their learning through our After School Clubs. They are asked to return a signed letter to school in order to gain a place. Places are limited and are offered on a 'first come first served' basis.

We usually ask for a small contribution towards the cost of delivering the clubs. This may be to purchase specialist resource or help fund a coach/teacher to deliver the activity. We will always try to keep this cost to a minimum. Any money must be paid in advance of the club taking place.

A variety of clubs is offered each term including activities developing skills in Mathematics, football, dance, tennis, multi skills, Coding, Science and Lego Robotics.

We have also forged strong links with Lordswood Girls' School who offer dance and multi skills clubs, usually during the Spring/Summer terms.

Each after school club begins promptly at 3.35pm and finishes by 5.00pm, depending on the club. Please make arrangements for your child to be collected from the school reception area. The clubs are always extremely popular and enjoyed by all.

Computer Games Club

The After School Computer Games Club takes place on Mondays and has been a great success during Spring Term.

Each session has been run by School for Gaming which is a social enterprise run by a former pupil of the school, Chris Hignell. It has been developed with support from Lloyds Bank School of Social Entrepreneurs.

The main aims of the group were to develop digital literacy, as well as other life skills such as working collaboratively and leading teams.

Each week, teams were given a task to complete using ‘Minecraft’. Each task was linked to Our Lady of Fatima School’s Creative Curriculum and included a strict success criterion that could only be met if groups planned and worked together.

Due to the success of the club, we plan to run further sessions in the Summer Term.

Fencing Club

Fencing Club,

As part of our new After School Clubs, fencing has been introduced. The club runs on Thursday evenings.

During the first session on Thursday 12 September 2019, the children familiarised themselves with the equipment and learnt about the importance of safety when taking part in this type of physical activity.

They were then introduced to the rules and the aim of outwitting their opponents to gain the advantage

Football Club

We have a school football team and enjoy taking part in matches with local schools and through the Catholic Partnership. We play in a range of eleven and seven a-side league and cup competitions.

The aim of the club is to have fun whilst learning a range of new skills and developing teamwork.

Football Team

Football Team 2019/20,

Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Primary School Football Team currently plays in the Joe Brennan Trophy Competition (Catholic schools' seven a side tournament) and the Harborne School League (local schools' seven a side).

They also take part in the annual Premier League School Football Competition, competing against local other schools.

Gymnastics Club

Each Wednesday after school many pupils enjoy learning new gymnastic skills at our After School Club. The children learn and practise how to be flexible, improve their core strength, balance using their upper and lower-body strength, increase power skills and improve their mental focus.

Mindfulness, Relaxation and Well-Being Club

Mindfulness colouring, relaxation and story-time classes are available as an after-school club on Thursdays from 3.30 to 4.20pm.

These therapeutic sessions run by Mrs Darkaoui take place in a relaxed environment, where the children are welcome to bring along a pair of slippers and a onesie to add to their calmness. Each session begins with circle-time followed by mindful colouring and relaxation activities; all sessions end with story-time.

Benefits:

  • Improve motor skills
  • Stimulate creativity
  • Improve hand to eye coordination
  • A therapeutic session allowing children to focus and be mindful (in the present moment)

Robotics Club

Our Lady of Fatima Primary School is excited to now have its very own Robotics Club.

Supporting the development of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics within the school, small groups of children are given the opportunity to create their own robot using our very own Lego Mindstorm kits.

The club takes place on Thursday lunchtimes, with pupils being selected to attend on a termly basis. We look forward to entering our first team in the First Lego League!

Sing and Play Club

UK Maths Challenge Club

The Sing and Play After School Club started several years ago with a group of budding and enthusiastic musicians. Since then many children have enjoyed learning how to play the ukulele.

The club happens every Thursday after school, where the children learn how to play different chords, whilst singing too. They are so committed that there is just no stopping them. They work their way through the song book with great enthusiasm.

Well done to all the players and their talented teacher.

UK Maths Challenge Club

UK Maths Challenge Club

This club aims to meet the needs of more able Mathematicians.

Each year pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 have the opportunity to enter the UK Maths Challenge which takes place in the Spring Term.

The club runs after school on Mondays, challenging pupils to further develop their logic and thinking skills.
