PTA

Your children, your school, your PTA

The Parent Teacher Association has been running for many years. There is a small but dedicated group of parents and staff who organise many social events at Our Lady of Fatima School for the children and their families.

Some of the events run include: The annual summer fayre, autumn term welcome disco, firework disco, Christmas discos and St. Patrick's Day celebrations. We have been able to contact Santa and he visits the school annually during the Christmas parties to give each child a gift. There is a sponsored bounce in May and we round off the year with a bubble festival, on the last day of the school year.

The money raised has helped to equip the school with many resources, from which all the children benefit. Recent donations include:

  • Football Team Kit
  • Listening Centres for KS1
  • High visibility jackets
  • Contribution to visiting theatre companies
  • Benches and seating for the playgrounds
  • Mathematical marking of the infant playground
  • Christmas presents for all the children
  • A special 'memory' bench for the quiet area under the blossom trees
  • Donations towards the cost of school trips for every class
  • Sound system for school performances
  • Parent notice board
  • Golden Jubilee 'street party'
  • Costumes for the Nativity play
  • PE gymnastic and playtime equipment

As you can see the money raised at our events helps us to provide many extras for our children. We will continue to work hard to ensure that our children see the benefits from the money raised. In order to continue, we need the support of parents at our events and at the planning stages of each event.

All parents are welcome to join the PTA (together with all of the staff) and may feel eager to join the committee! If so, details can be left at the school office and you will be contacted with regard to meetings. Meetings are generally held once a half term, usually in 'The Harvester' across the road from school. Meetings usually start at 8p.m, but times and dates can be flexible.

The PTA committee meet in a very informal way. The meetings serve the purpose of discussing events planned for the children in a relaxed social environment.

We are aware that due to other commitments some parents are unable to commit to attending these meetings but are keen to offer help at some of our events, all offers of help however small are greatly appreciated.
