Event - Water Aid Fundraising

20 March 2015

Our Lady of Fatima School’s Before and After School Club suggested that we fund raise for Water Aid. Our Creative Curriculum theme for this term has been Water and so it seemed most fitting that we should find out how we could help this cause.

In class the children learnt how their financial donations could:

  • help to build a well so that children don’t have to drink dirty river water that is teeming with parasites, bacteria and animal waste;
  • put taps and pumps in the heart of a community – daily treks to the river with a heavy cans are tiring and leave little time for school or work;
  • end the threat of illness and diarrhoea, which kills 1,400 children every day.

On Friday 20th March the pupils and staff dressed up in ‘water themed costumes’ or simply just wore blue outfits and raised £321.15 .This amount was doubled by government funding and so it was truly a worthwhile cause.
