Event - Tree Planting

22 May 2015

On Friday 22nd May there was great excitement when some dwarf trees arrived in school ready to be planted.

Each fruit tree will grow to about one metre tall, allowing the children to pick the fruit when it is ripe. It also allows for community involvement as families may choose to pick fruit to eat on their way home! We have a variety of trees including, pear, apple, cherry and plum trees. We may even be able to make some jam from the produce!

The planting and caring for the trees will also address part of the Science curriculum where seasonal changes need to be observed over an extended period of time. We also incorporate the trees in daily conversation linked to respecting our environment.
