Event - Birmingham Catholic Swimming Gala

15 June 2013

Our Lady of Fatima School took part in the Birmingham Catholic Schools Sports Association Annual Swimming Gala at Wyndley Swimming Pool.

The team comprised swimmers from Years 3 to 6. This is a very competitive event with up to 30 schools competing for individual honours in freestyle, backstroke and breast-stroke races and a team relay race for boys and girls.

This year, the school had outstanding success due to the great team spirit demonstrated by the swimmers as well as their natural ability. Joe, Travis, Dermot, Karnell, Niamh, Mary, Alice, Esmee and Caitlin supported each other throughout the evening with amazing results. They got to seven of the eight finals - winning the boys relay race, and gaining further points in their individual events.

The boys proudly received the Boys Winners Shield after getting to all four final events and winning the relay event in style.

When the results were announced at the end of the evening, the team were delighted to find that not only were they the highest scoring small school, but their points total earned them the title of 'Overall Champions' as well as taking the boys team trophy. They had terrific support as always from their families.

Well done team!
