Event - Our Giant Reading Chair

17 July 2015

Learning to read is a gift. It takes high priority at Our Lady of Fatima School as we all understand that being able to read and enjoy reading opens up so many different aspects of learning.

The PTA fundraised and generously donated money so that a giant reading chair could be made for the children to enjoy sitting in and around as they read and share books during class curriculum time and lunch times.

We owe huge thanks to Mr Rollason who designed, made and positioned the chair on the school field. The PTA also forged links with Rangers from Licky Hills who kindly donated 15 tree stumps for the children to also sit on.

Steve Hinton from Licky Hills carved a ‘Once Upon a Time…’ heading for the top of the reading chair. Mr Rollason then stained the lettering so that it would stay preserved.

It was finally unveiled by Year 6 on the last day of the summer term. We look forward to many children experiencing hours of fun and happiness from sharing books and enjoying reading in this special area.
