Event - West Midlands Fire Service Quiz

18 June 2014

Every year West Midlands Fire Service runs a Schools’ Safety Quiz aimed at Year 5 pupils. It started in 1993 and since then this event has grown bigger each year.

The first part of the challenge was to complete an interactive resource at school which aimed to teach children basic safety messages. Depending on how each school successfully completed this activity, which included a short quiz, meant that the top five schools were selected to be entered into the Command Final.

A selection of Year 5 pupils from Our Lady of Fatima School reached the final and performed exceptionally well at the quiz and so faced four other local schools at the South Birmingham Command Final on the 18th June.

After a nail-biting start and some incredibly tough questions, Orla, Esmee, Eve, Jim, Daniel and Dermot turned up the heat in the final buzzer round and managed to secure second place overall. There was one point between the winners and our team.

Congratulations to all the children who took part- we are all very proud of you. Well done Year 5!
